Yellow Roses

Yellow rose designs are presented in two ‘vintage’ containers.  One is a pottery basket; the second is a container created using chalk paint and vintage style ribbons and trim.  The roses are accompanied by mini white carnations, a few stems of garden lavender, and seeded eucalyptus.

September Bridal Shower

imageThe weather was beautiful when an outdoor bridal shower took place in late September. The bride’s color theme is dark purple with accents of lime green. Timing was perfect to create a centerpiece using a real white pumpkin from the farmer’s market.

Rose ‘Basket’

imageHere is a cute idea for a floral favor at a shower, wedding, corporate event . . . a ‘basket’ made of an aspidistra leaf.  So cute . . . this technique was demonstrated at a WUMFA workshop by Doug Jaeger, Certified Florist.  All kinds of possibilities exist …

Wedding Shower Centerpieces

These centerpieces are ready for a September wedding shower.  The bride is incorporating calla lilies in a deep purple theme for the late fall wedding.  These arrangements are made of artificial callas and filler flowers that were ‘upcycled’ from another event.

Farmers’ market flowers

Arrangements made with flowers purchased at the local farmers’ markets are colorful and inexpensive.  I buy bouquets and take them apart to rearrange.  Sometimes I ask for a handful of one kind of flowers like the Bells of Ireland shown here paired with Queen Anne’s lace from the ‘field.’  A few dollars worth of flowers can go along way.imageimage
